Pinoy-Style Cravings

Open Til' Midnight at "BC Chicken House"

BC Chicken House is located at Juna Subd., Quimpo Blvd. Corner University Ave., Davao City
I love food... and food loves me! I never get overweight though my appetite is huge which is kind of unusual for a petite girl like me. I had my belated 19th birthday dinner celebration with my family last April 27 at the BC Chicken House. It is a Pinoy style alfresco restaurant for customers craving for pinoy style food. Although, I thought they only serve Chicken (hence the name itself), they also have dozens of seafood choices and other flavorsome delicacies.

In an architectural view, this restaurant is basically made of indigenous materials such as sawali and bamboo. The cut bamboo supports are secured with ropes and the four main bamboo poles are lashed together to create a rigid bamboo support. Sawali (woven split bamboo mats) is used in the kisame or ceiling. This gives the resto a natural cooling effect since warm air rises and escapes through the light weight material sawali. Its walls are made of cut bamboo and it's roof made of nipa. Basically, the Pinoy ambiance of this dining place portrays the well known culture of Filipinos which is the Bahay Kubo.

The place had jazz music and the service is actually good. The waiters we're somewhat accommodating however, it took 20 mins. for our meals to be served. Also, one of our orders we're (accidentally) forgotten. Our Kinilaw was not listed by the waitress. However, the moment our meals we're served on the table, all the complaints vanished in an instant. Their famous Chicken Pecho at 90php (with java rice and atsara) was very mouthwatering and succulent.

Since we also love seafood, we ordered some Grilled Squid and Tinolang Lapu-lapu all for 563 php. It added flavor to our dry meals. Its seafood flavor is tasted from the inside out making our hungry stomach satisfied.

A good way to cool down after a sumptuous meal is to fill your mouth with a glass of cold fresh Calamansi juice. The perfect way to chill after a huge appetite. Try all these only at BC Chicken House!

finishing touch after meal- fresh Calamnsi juice!
So here is my review about BC Chicken House! To those who crave for pinoy food and ambiance, try this alfresco resto! After this experience, I would rate this with 3.5 out of 5. The food is exquisite but the waiters lack good service. However, this is the one stop people should try- with their wide variety of meals from chicken, soups and seafood, this Chicken house definitely is worth trying during this lazy summer heat!
